Claude Chat & Prompting

Master prompts that consistently produce useful, verifiable outputs.

What you will learn

Claude becomes far more reliable when the request contains five things: the role, the task, the context, the constraints, and the required output. This level turns vague one-line questions into reusable professional prompts.

The 5-part prompt formula

  1. Role: Who should Claude act as?
  2. Task: What exactly should it produce or decide?
  3. Context: Who is it for, what data applies, and what background matters?
  4. Constraints: Length, tone, sources, exclusions, deadlines, formats.
  5. Output: Table, checklist, code, report, JSON, lesson plan, etc.

Professional example

Act as a senior CBSE computer teacher.
Create a 40-minute Class 8 lesson on decomposition.
Audience: mixed-ability middle-school students.
Requirements:
- 3 learning outcomes
- 5-minute starter
- group activity
- assessment rubric
- homework
- 5-question exit ticket
Use simple English. Present the lesson plan in a table.
Before finalizing, check that every requested element is present.

Verification pattern

For high-value work, end with: “Before finalizing, check your answer against every requirement and list any assumption you had to make.”

Practice

Take one real task you normally type in a single sentence and rewrite it using the five-part formula.
